Many garden enthusiasts purchased water-wise plants to enhance their home gardens, as well as items from our Gift Shoppe. Master Gardeners and CBG volunteers were available to answer questions, while other volunteers helped in many ways: event set-up, plant holding area, cashiers, plant loaders, and the clean-up crew. Thank you to ALL Volunteers!! A special thank you to Ree Perry and Georgia Porcella for co-coordinating this wonderful event for so many years!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"clovis-botanical-garden-volunteer-of-the-year\">Clovis Botanical Garden Volunteer of the Year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual CBG Volunteer Appreciation Social was held on October 19th in the Pavilion. Valerie Lee was awarded Volunteer of the Year! Valerie is an ardent supporter of the garden and participates in most of our special events. Her numerous supportive contributions include painted stones, succulent planting in large containers, and painted benches throughout the garden. Her optimistic spirit and joy for life hallmark her warm personality. Thank You for ALL you do, Valerie \u2013 and CONGRATULATIONS!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"children-s-garden-additions\">Children&#8217;s Garden Additions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have not been to the Children\u2019s Garden recently, you are in for a big treat on your next visit! New additions include new signs and displays, engraved bricks, painted benches, butterfly garden plantings, painted fence posts, and whimsical larger-than-life garden animals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4th-annual-scarecrow-garden\">4th Annual Scarecrow Garden<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>22 ingeniously creative scarecrows delighted garden visitors this fall. Hundreds of photographs were taken by families to celebrate autumn, and more than 600 votes for the People\u2019s Choice Awards were received. Winners were as follows: 1st Place \u2013 Crescent View West High School; 2nd Place Vocation Plus Connections, and 3rd Place \u2013 Fresno County Master Gardeners. Honorable Mention Award Winners are \u201cAudrey &amp; Mommy\u201d, \u201cHearing Life\u201d, and the \u201cWillow Avenue Mennonite Church\u201d. Thank you and congratulations to all participants!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"technology-updates\">Technology Updates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our website is being rebuilt to provide updated information in a more user-friendly format, so look for that change soon! An ongoing project also includes electronic mapping of the garden using QR codes to identify trees as visitors walk the garden paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"visitors-center\">Visitors Center<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fundraising efforts for our new Visitor Center continue as we begin the groundwork to make this project a reality. Meetings with lawyers, the architect, city planners, construction supervisors, etc. are ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"farewell\">Farewell<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Elsabe Kruger, a Board Member for several years, was instrumental in the conception and development of the Sensory Garden.
