Volunteer at the Garden

Without dedicated volunteers giving freely of their time and talents, the Clovis Botanical Garden would not exist. We encourage and invite you to become a volunteer.

Volunteers are essential to meeting the Garden’s mission and connecting people and plants.

Our volunteer opportunities include:

Gift Shop Greeter

The greeter is expected to welcome visitors in a friendly manner, and assist customers in purchases and provide information about the garden.

Requirements – Regular morning and afternoon shifts are 3.5 hours.
9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Garden Maintenance

The Garden volunteers assist garden staff with maintenance; weeding, raking, mulching, and other special projects as needed.

Volunteers will receive an orientation to the garden on the first day and always work under supervision. Gloves, tools, and water is provided at no cost to the volunteer.

Please be prepared for weather conditions, i.e., hat and sunscreen in the summertime.

Requirements – Energetic, positive attitude, interest in physical and sometimes dirty activities. Able to follow instructions and Garden maintenance guidelines and collaborate with fellow volunteers.

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Times may vary depending on weather conditions.

Event Volunteers

Volunteers assist in a variety of activities during plant sales or other special events. Activities may include checking in volunteers, directing visitors, set up and breaking down.

Volunteers may also be on duty to monitor private Pavilion events and to close the garden after the event is over.

Requirements – Friendly, flexible, able to assist on evenings and weekends.

Docents/Tour Guides

Provide walking tours to small groups or adults and or children.

Requirements – Must have knowledge of garden history and plants and participate in docent training.

Students 14 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

Younger children who are part of a group will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

All volunteers must work with a garden supervisor.
