This deciduous shrub or tree is native to the desert from California to Texas where it grows in washes and streambeds. It grows rapidly to 15 to 30 feet tall and 10 to 20 feet wide. Leaves are willow-like. Trumpet-shaped flowers appear all summer and attract hummingbirds. Growth can be thinned to enhance shape. It needs full sun with little to moderate water.
