Hooray! Now that the construction of the new Visitor Center is complete, the “Scarecrow Garden” returns by popular demand! We would like to invite you to join in the fun!
Participants (businesses, organizations, scout troops, classrooms, friends, and families) are invited to create a free-standing scarecrow on your own that will be displayed throughout the garden from October 18th to November 16th for a donation of $25. Provide a sign to accompany your scarecrow to advertise or showcase your affiliation. Bring your entries to the garden on Saturday or Sunday October 18th or 19th and meet with a garden volunteer for placement.
This is a fantastic way for you to:
- Advertise your services and/or products.
- Engage your employees or group in a team building activity.
- Celebrate your family, friends, students, scouts, employees.
- Educate valley residents and increase public awareness.
- Support the Clovis Botanical Garden and local groups.
- Have fun in the Fall!
Garden visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy your creations, vote for their favorites, and take wonderful Fall family photos!

This event is planned as a Fall Harvest Celebration (not Halloween).
The RULES are simple.
Your Scarecrow should be:
- Kid-friendly (no ghouls and bloody, scary monsters)
- Able to stand on its own (no stakes in the ground or straw bales)
- Safe (no sharp edged, pointy, or splinter-prone objects)
- 3 to 7 feet in height
- Signs: No larger than 12 X 18 inches (No religious or political statements)
- Scarecrow Drop-Off: October 18th or 19th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Drop off on Saturday or Sunday ony, Garden staff will direct you toward placement options.)
- Scarecrow Pick-Up: November 15th or 16th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
You are limited otherwise only by your imagination!
Visitors will vote for favorites. Certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be awarded just for fun!
